NYC MUSIC: Kiran Ahluwalia “Wanderlust” CD Release – Joe’s Pub, Oct 17 @ 7:30pm

On her new album “Wanderlust” — Kiran Ahluwalia melds the centuries old tradition of ghazal, with contemporary song craft, sophisticated jazz tonality and a multitude of global influences — from fado, to Saharan blues. The Village Voice says she is a “rising international star” and after seeing her at The Getty in Los Angeles, Don Heckman of the LA Times wrote, “her crystal clear voice arched airily above rhythms that coursed through audience . . . an evening of fascinating, newly revealed music.”
